So the girl I precepted for 12 weeks last fall just casually mentioned her hourly rate in the break room and it's $3.40 more than mine. I've been here 7 years. SEVEN. I trained her on how to hang blood, I stayed late with her the night her first patient coded, and she's making more than me because they bumped the starting rate to compete with the place across town and just didn't adjust anyone else.
I'm not even mad at her, she didn't do anything wrong. I'm mad at myself for being loyal to a place that clearly sees loyalty as a reason they don't have to try.
I have a meeting with my manager Thursday. Part of me wants to go in calm with numbers and part of me wants to just slap my badge on the desk. Has anyone actually gotten a compression adjustment by asking or is it always "budget is tight this year"
