Had a patient back this week who I took care of almost two years ago when he was really sick. Like, we-weren't-sure-he-was-leaving sick. He's back for something minor and the second I walked in he said my name before he even looked at my badge.
He told me he still thinks about the night I sat with him at 3am because he couldn't sleep and was scared. I honestly barely remember it. It was probably one of those nights where I had five minutes and just didn't want to leave him alone.
I've been pretty checked out lately and this kind of knocked something loose. I don't know. Do you guys ever find out years later that some small thing you did actually stuck with someone?
