So the new grad I've been precepting for 8 weeks left her pay stub on the break room table. Not snooping, it was just face up. She makes $2.40 more an hour than me. I have 11 years on this unit. ELEVEN. I trained her on our charting system last month.
I'm not mad at her at all, good for her honestly. I'm mad that I've been getting my 2% "merit increase" every year like it's a gift while they bump starting pay to compete with the hospital across town and just leave the rest of us sitting there.
Half of me wants to march into my manager's office tomorrow. The other half knows exactly what she's going to say, something about budget cycles and market adjustments. Has anyone actually gotten anywhere bringing this up, or do you just have to leave and come back to get paid what you're worth?
