So the girl I precepted for 12 weeks in the spring just told me her hourly rate in the break room like it was nothing. She makes $2.40 more than me. I have 9 years on this unit. NINE. I taught her how to hang blood like six months ago.
And I'm not even mad at her, good for her honestly, she negotiated. I'm mad that I've been getting my little 2.5% every year and saying thank you like an idiot while they hire people off the street above me. Went to my manager and got the whole "market adjustments" speech and "I'll look into it." We all know what that means.
Part of me wants to just apply across the street and come back in a year as a new hire. Part of me feels like I owe this unit something. Is that loyalty or am I just being stupid at this point?
